Sakeji at the Mwinilunga Agricultural Fair

The grade seven students under the direction of Mr. Ronald prepared a display about life at Sakeji. They put it all together, packed the vehicle, and left early on Friday morning. Thankfully, they had everything set up in Mwinilunga in time for the opening of the fair.

Their presentation was well received by all, as you can see by the number of people filling the booth. The students talked about the visuals, explained the pictures, and answered questions all day. The theme was Bible based education. Gospel tracts and booklets about the Bible were given away free.

Term 2 - 2008 Birthday Party

We all had a wonderful time, in a similated aircraft, flight 101 on Sakeji Skyways–travelling the world, and enjoying the sights! The food was great, and the cakes pictured below were delicious!

The ground crew were just awesome, the security managed in an impressive way, and stewardesses looked beautiful.

Talented Sakeji Art Students

Under the direction of our art teacher, Miss Jill Avery, we submitted a selection of art work into an international competition in Finland.. The jury of the 13th International Art Exhibition (My Environment) received 7,500 works of art from 58 countries.

Two grade seven Sakeji students were awarded diplomas. Congratulations to them both!

Joanna Mast painted the above painting of scenes in rural Zambian life.

Musanya Luhana, the artist of the one above, enjoys football, and that is the theme of his painting.

Sakeji Easter Gardens

It has long been a tradition at Sakeji to spend a little time on Easter Sunday thinking of the wonderful story of the love of the Lord Jesus. What amazing love He showed when He gave Himself to die on Calvary’s cross. He died that we might have life!

But, “Up from the grave He arose”. We sang that on Easter Sunday. What a wonderful truth. We have a living Saviour. This is proof that God was satisfied with the atoning death of His Son.

The children at Sakeji worked in small groups to make their Easter Gardens, representing both the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The New Diving Tower

Swimming and learning how to do it right, has always been lots of fun at Sakeji. We are all enjoying the new swimming pool. The addition of a six foot and nine foot diving tower has added to the excitement. All the silver and gold students dove off the six foot level this past Wednesday.

Children’s Evening Fellowship

The normal fellowship, singing, and message from the Scriptures is held each Sunday evening in the main sitting room at Sakeji. But once a month, the grades seven and eight join us. This past Sunday, they accompanied the singing with guitars, and then we all listened to a message from God’s Word, by Mr. Robertson. At the end of the evening, we all enjoyed refreshments and a chat.

Spiritual Emphasis Week at Sakeji

We thank the Lord for the encouragement and help that Alan & Sheila Park were to all of us at Sakeji this past week. The meetings with the children followed the life of the apostle Paul, his life in the past, and then how he met the Lord, trusted Him as His Saviour, and his life as a Christian, living for God, and serving the Saviour.

Mr. Park is shown here dressed as Mr. Book, telling the story. It was often illustrated but in this case, one of the students was his object lesson.

At the end of the lesson, the children held golden “coins” from the treasure chest, with their memory verse on them, and recited the verse together.

We are all praying that the Word of God planted in their hearts will result in some coming to know the Lord Jesus as their Saviour.

Half Term Events

Half term at Sakeji is always a time to relax and have fun. Here are a few of the students enjoying themselves at the river (March 16-17th).

Swimming in the new pool followed by some sun bathing, was great too, since the weather was so nice.

In between times, there were other things to do like hanging upside down, and learning to do the splits! And of course, we all like sweets!

Piano Recital

Wednesday, March 28th, was a special day for the piano students. Each student had an opportunity to perform in front of the whole school. They were a bit nervous, but all did very well!

Birthday Party from the Wild West

Last week at Sakeji we had the birthday party, to celebrate all the birthdays that term. The theme was the wild west. We had birthday cakes that corresponded to the western front with cowboys, Indians, buffalo, guitars, and even a little settler village.

Yes, the birthday party was an fun time. Mr. Mark Ronald was the MC, and the program was informative, interesting, and closed with a message about the gospel coming to the west.
